Wooly Mammoth Stops Construction in Stockton California
Drillers encountered several woolly mammoth bones about 80 feet below ground while working on the site of the new San Joaquin County administration building. The bones including a femur were sent to UC Berkley for further study. There are no current plans to extract more of the remains however archaeologists will be present for the rest of the project in case more turn up.
